Connectionist Approaches in Economics and Management Sciences
Seventh International Meeting

Paris, 14-15 December 2000

Organized by :
SAMOS-MATISSE (UMR 8595 CNRS, University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, France)
CEREG (UPRESA 7088 CNRS, University of Paris 9 Dauphine, France)
DMSP (University of Paris 9 Dauphine, France)
with GERME from University of Lille 2.

Objectives
Since the early 80s, numerous new approaches of biomimetic inspiration (neural networks, genetic algorithms, cellular machines, ...) have known an important growing due to the theoretical advances in learning models. They raise a real interest from researchers in Economics, as well as in Management Sciences, but they are still not well known amongst this
scientific community. The international Meetings of ACSEG give the opportunity to assess the state-of-art in theses areas, to draw prospects and to highlight their contribution to research in Economics and in Management. They also allow researchers to present their recent works, to exchange their know-how and to discuss the problems they meet.

After Poitiers, Nantes, Tours, Louvain-la-Neuve (Belgium) and Reus (Spain), the ACSEG 2000 Meeting takes place in Paris, in the heart of the Latin Quarter, which will facilitate the participation of new colleagues.

Every year, a selection of the best papers is published in an international scientific review (European Journal of Economics and Social Systems in 1998, Fuzzy Economic Review in 1999).

This year, after being reviewed by two referees, the selected papers will be published in English in the European Journal of Economics and Social Systems (Chief Editor : Bernard Paulré).

Program
Thursday, December 14, will be dedicated to tutorials intended to present connectionist methods and main models of learning to the interested colleagues in Economics and Management. Five subjects are planned and the speakers have already given their agreement. Lectures will be illustrated with practical demonstrations.
1) Genetic Algorithms
Jacques-Marie Aurifeille, Lab Gregeois, University of la Réunion
2) Learning in disintegrated-agents economics, multi-agents systems
Christophe Deissenberg, CEFI, University of Aix-Marseille
3) Theory of the connectionist learning
Jean-Pierre Nadal, LPS, ENS-Ulm
4) Models of adaptive rationality
Paul Bourgine, CREA, Ecole Polytechnique
5) Kohonen algorithm and exploratory analysis of data
Patrick Letremy and Marie Cottrell, SAMOS-MATISSE, University of Paris 1.

Friday, December 15, will be dedicated to oral communications selected by the scientific committee with at most two parallel sessions. Each session will be led by a " discussant " in charge of its synthesis.

If possible, communications will be made in French, if not, in English.

Call for paper
You are invited to submit papers in Economics and Management in which connectionist methods are used as well from a theoretical point of view as for applications in the following fields :
· New approaches in data analysis, data mining, typologies,
· Simulation of complex processes
· Forecasting (Financial series, bankruptcy, consumers behavior, etc.),
· Numeric methods of risk assessment,
· Hybrid methods, etc.

Submissions must be sent by postal mail to the following postal address :
