Aims of the Workshop

This is the 10th edition of a series of monothematic bi annual meetings developed in Havana. They concentrate the efforts in discussing recent results and experiences in the use of Operations Research (OR) in the subject of the workshop. Previous editions have been devoted to Medicine, Transport, Biological and Economical aspects. The contributions have spread several papers, which have been published in well-known journals as well as in the proceedings, and some international joint research projects have had their roots in the contacts started at these OR Workshops

This edition is dedicated to foster the applications of models and methods of optimization, statistical, probability, numerical analysis and algorithms for modeling systems where randomness, imprecision or changes in systems conditions which cause uncertainty : structuring methodology, stochastic models, randomized algorithms, fuzzy models, soft computing approaches,

The meeting is planned to be attended by a group of specialists from all around the world as well as by Cuban students and professionals for exchanging on around theoretical results, application and teaching experiences in the field.

Invited Lectures and Tutorials will be delivered by well-known specialists in the fields to be announced.

The program Committee is organizing discussion panels on the main theme of the workshop.

SOME HISTORY

IWOR is going to take place at Colegio San Geronimo, located in Habana Vieja, Old Havana. Colegio San Geronimo is a faculty of Universidad de La Habana and it has a special status as post graduate center for training on restoration of architecture and archeology. The Historiador de la Ciudad is its dean. The colegio is located at the original site of Universidad de La Habana. The opening is planned to take place at its Aula Magna, which is a reconstruction of the original 1728`s one. A modern building, with a heliport, was constructed in the place in the fifties. It was the economical government nucleon of what was planned to be Havana`s Wall Street. Now the modern building has been transformed to settle with the original construction.

Old Havana homes several museums and cultural institutions, such as Museo de Bellas Artes and Gtan Teatro de La Habana. It is already a traditional that some sessions be developed in one of the closest Casas Museo, bringing the opportunity of admiring how culture, education and science come together in the colonial environment present in this part of the city, an UNESCO`s Cultural Patrimony of Human kind.

 February 25, 2013 Information about acceptance of the papers for papers received after January 15.

A short abstract of 200-300 words and an extended abstract of 2-3 page should be send to the organizers (sira@matcom.uh.cu or marie.cottrell@univ-paris1.fr) . Extended abstracts received no later than January 10, 2013. will be edited in a CD. Full
length papers will received up to May 30, 2013. They will be per reviewed and published in a special
issue of Investigación Operacional. Details on the journal may be obtained at http://rev-inv-ope.univ-paris1.fr/
