Sophie Dion served as the official sports advisor to the former President of the Republic of France, Nicolas Sarkozy, from June 2007 until May 2012.
Doctor of Laws and senior lecturer at the Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, Sophie Dion started her career in Paris at international law firm Gide Loyrette Nouel, where she became a specialist in employment and sports law, advocating in many sports-related cases (particularly football).
She founded and still leads the University Diploma and the Master in Sports Law at the Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, and is the author of numerous books and publications in the world of law and sport.
She is also a Judge in the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) and Regional Councillor in the Rhone-Alpes region and stood as the UMP candidate in the June 2012 legislative election for the 6th constituency of Haute-Savoie.
