Ombudsman


The Ombudsman facilitates communication when conflict arises among students, faculty, administrators, and service offices. They listen to the concerns, complaints, and grievances of affected parties, conduct investigations when appropriate, and help identify and evaluate resolution options. The Ombudsman is expected to be impartial, functioning as a neutral facilitator or mediator rather than as an advocate of any party.They operate independently of administrative authorities. The Ombudsman maintains confidentiality of records, contacts, and communication. You can contact the Ombudsman for the following resources:

  • to know your rights;
  • when all the other options have failed;
  • when a problem is recurrent or unsolved;
  • when you believe you are a victim of discriminatory practices;
  • when someone's behavior interferes your studies.

 

Note that the Ombudsman has no right of inspection of external university conflicts or problems. The Ombudsman will consider only the complaints emanating from and implying students, administrators and service offices related to the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree (EMJMD) QEM - Models and Methods of Quantitative Economics. Any request submitted to the Ombudsman should be comprised of the following:

  • personal information of the complainant such as name, capacity, address, and telephone number;
  • a short statement of the matter at issue and the relevant documentation (such as correspondence);
  • a report of the steps, and the people with whom the complainant was exchanged, in order to solve their problem;
  • the expectations and remedies sought to settle the matter.
