How to apply

Application to the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree (EMJMD) QEM programme can be easily completed online.  Review the processes below to help you prepare to apply, complete the application process (between Nov. 15 to June 30).

 

Online application to the Erasmus Mundus Joint Degree (EMJMD) QEM programme can be done through the web portal, located Opens external link in new windowhere. There is no application fee.

 

Stage 1: Register on the Online Platform

To apply, you first need to create an online account, which can be done here. After completing the initial registration, you will receive a confirmation e-mail containing your login ID and password. For any questions directed at the QEM administration, please use the email address that you used during the creation of your personal session. You do not need to complete the entire form in one sitting; you can return to your partially completed application by logging in to the system using the email address and password you create at the start of the process.

 

If you have already applied for the programme in a previous academic year, you can continue to use your previous login ID and password. This will allow you to keep or update previously uploaded documents.

 

Before submitting your application, please read carefully the following important items:

  • Applications are made exclusively through the online platform: at this stage, please do not send any documents by regular mail or e-mail unless you are explicitly asked to do so by our staff (see stage 4 below for the certified copies).

  • The application form contains 7 mandatory components, and possible additional ones as described below.

  • An incomplete application will delay evaluation.

  • The same application form should be used to apply to the QEM programme and for the Erasmus Mundus Scholarship as specified in [2] Statement of Purpose, item C.

  • The admission mechanism, selection procedure and registration are common to the consortium and you need to complete a single application form at the consortium level.

  • All documents must either be in English or be accompanied by an official certified English translation. All files should be uploaded in .pdf format (except for the photo, which should be uploaded in.jpg).

 

Stage 2: Upload your Documents on the Online Platform

The following documents should be uploaded to your personal QEM application page in Portable Document Format (PDF). Documents must either be in English or be accompanied by an official certified English translation.

Information on the list of documents above can be found below:

 

[1] Curriculum Vitae. This document should be in a single PDF file containing the following sections (each section A, B, ... should begin on a new page and be of no more than 1 page in length, except for section C which may require more than one page).. 

 

A. Personal Details: full name (i.e. first name(s) and family name), address(es) (i.e. permanent home address and current contact address where you can be reached during the application process), telephone number, e-mail address, date of birth, and nationality.

 

B. Previous Education: undergraduate and secondary education with the names of the institutions, dates of attendance, the field and level of study, and overall grades achieved (optional) each year.

Please specify whether the date your bachelor's degree is obtained is an effective or expected date. If you have not yet completed but expect to obtain your bachelor's degree at the end of this academic year, we require a letter signed by an official representative of your institution stating the estimated date the degree will be obtained. Acceptance to the programme is conditional upon applicants receiving their degree before the programme commences.

 

C. Mathematics Background: List the mathematics' courses taken at the undergraduate level and above. For each course, specify the title, the year of study, the grade achieved (optional), the total number of hours, and a brief description of the content. Particular emphasis should be placed on Calculus, Linear Algebra, Probability, Statistics courses. There is no GRE requirement.

 

D. Languages: please specify whether or not your secondary or undergraduate education were taught through English. If so, you do not require a certificate of proficiency in English, otherwise you will need to provide such a certificate (such as TOEFL or IELTS, see the Language Requirements Opens internal link in current windowhere) ideally before the application deadline but definitely before the programme starts.

Please also state your estimated proficiency in the languages of the consortium (French, German, Italian and Spanish). This is not part of the selection process and is only asked in order to help us in planning and defining the level of language classes.

 

E. Further Information (optional): previous graduate education, research projects, professional experience, or any other information beyond the bachelor's degree you may wish to provide.

 

[2] Statement of Purpose (Personal Declaration). This document should be in a single PDF file containing the following sections (each section A, B, and C should begin on a new page and be of no more than 1 page in length).

 

A. Motivation Statement: explain your reasons for applying, background and your intentions after this degree.

 

B. Preferred Mobility Track: you may propose, for each semester (Semester 1, Semester 2, and Semesters 3  and 4 together), a ranking of your choices between the partner universities. It is very important to specify whether this is a definitive choice or simply a wish. The Admissions Committee will take into consideration the wishes of the students, giving priority to those ranking highest in admission. Hence, we do not guarantee that your mobility wishes are fully considered.

 

C. Scholarships: you should specify if  you apply for the Erasmus Mundus scholarship programme or partner country students and whether your application is conditional upon being awarded a scholarship.

 

[3] Proof of Nationality. This document should be a scanned copy in a single-page PDF file. Passport-size Photograph: we ask that you upload a passport-size photograph in a .jpg file of 100x150 pixels (to ensure the correct resolution). It is optional at this stage but it will be necessary upon acceptance by the programme.

 

 

If you are a non-European Union applicant, you will need a passport for visa purposes. We strongly prefer that you upload a scanned copy of the principle page of your passport showing your name, citizenship and the date of expiry (EU citizens may upload the principle page of their national ID card). If it is not done at this stage, it will need to be done later.

 

If you don't yet have a passport, please use any other official document proving your nationality such as a national ID card. Then apply for a passport as soon as possible.

NB: Please ensure that the passport is valid for the duration of the programme (i.e. students enrolling in the first year of the programme will require a passport that expires after the two years of studies). It is also worth specifying that applicants must use the same passport for the application form and for visa purposes.

 

[4] Certified Transcript of Study Results. This document should be a scanned copy merged in a single PDF file and either be in English or accompanied by an official certified English translation. Certificates of authenticity must be issued by recognized diplomatic or administrative authorities.

 

We require a certified transcript of study results or other academic record as proof of undergraduate study, including credits and grades achieved in each single subject.

 

[5] Certified Copy of University Degree(s)/Diploma(s). This document should be a scanned copy merged in a single PDF file and either be in English or accompanied by an official certified English translation. Certificates of authenticity must be issued by recognized diplomatic or administrative authorities.

 

You are eligible to apply if you expect to obtain your bachelor's degree at the end of this academic year but in this case we require:

(i) A letter signed by an official representative of your institution stating the estimated date the degree will be obtained

and

(ii) To receive a certified copy of the degree before the programme commences if you are accepted.

 

[6] Certificate of Proficiency in English. If you have not completed your secondary or undergraduate education through English, you require a recognised certificate of proficiency in English (such as TOEFL or IELTS, see the Language Requirements here). 

If the certificate is not ready before the deadline, it can be sent later by e-mail and by regular mail before the programme commences. Acceptance to the programme is conditional upon receipt of this test certificate at a satisfactory level before the programme commences.

 

 

[7] Proof of place of residence if you are not from the countries of the European Union, North Macedonia, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway or Turkey, and Serbia (e.g. residence certificate and certificate from your place of work, study or training). You should be able to provide residency documents covering the last five years until the deadline of the scholarship application.

Certificate of residence must be in line with the provisions of the municipality where you were registered or a document confirming the place of employment or study or training issued by your employer.

The document must have been issued within 12 months before the deadline of the Erasmus Mundus scholarship application.

It should be an official document, on the official letterhead of the company or institution, with the following information mentioned:

● Your full name

● Your status (full time or part-time student/employee)

● Your residential address during the time of study/employment

● The start date of your study/employment

● The end date of your study/employment (if relevant).

 

If it is not possible to issue the residence certificate in your residence area, you must provide a letter dated and signed by you staying this impossibility. Moreover, in your letter, you must indicate that you have (or not) lived nor have (or not) carried out your primary action for 12 months over the final five years in any of the Programme Country (the countries of the European Union, North Macedonia, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway or Turkey, and Serbia).

 

[8] Two Letters of Recommendation. You should arrange in advance to have two persons willing to write a letter of recommendation on your behalf. On step 5 of your application form, you will be prompted to submit the details (first name, last name, university, city, country, e-mail address) of these two persons. Once you submit your application form, these persons will receive an e-mail prompting them to upload a PDF copy of the letter of recommendation with the letterhead of their institution.

Once the reference letter has been uploaded, the receipt of the file will be acknowledged on your personal page of the online platform (and also in an e-mail to you). It is up to the applicant to make any necessary reminders.

 

[9] Optional. Any Other Documents: you may wish to provide (in a single PDF file), such as GRE scores, research project, or publications.

 

Stage 3: Make Your Course Choice

QEM1: for the first year of the Erasmus Mundus Master QEM: Models and Methods of Quantitative Economics

 

Once you have uploaded items [1]-[5] and [7]-[8] (and [6] if applicable) and made your course choice, your application is validated.
